We know the perimeter = 160 and we know that l = 3w, so write what we know and solve for w.

P = 2l x 2w

160 = 2(3w) + 2w

160 = 6w + 2w

160 = 8w

Divide both sides by 8

Now we can figure out the length, which is 3(w) or 3 x 20 = 60
