Given :

  • Stevie had 1/4 of a gallon of paint. He divided the paint equally into three containers.

To calculate :

  • How much paint did he put in each container?

Calculation :

Let us suppose each of the three containers has x gallon of paint.

\implies\sf{x + x + x = (1)/(4)}\\ \\ \implies\sf{3x = (1)/(4)}\\ \\ \implies\sf{x = (1)/(4) / 3} \\ \\ \implies\sf{x = (1)/(4)* (1)/(3)} \\ \\ \implies\sf{x = (1)/(12)}\\

Therefore, each container has 1/12 gallons of paint.

1/12 in each container just divide 1/4 by 3 it would be 1/12.
