9u+39=6(u+2)
multiply 6 by u and 2
9u+39=6u+12
9u-6u=12-39
3u=-27
u=-27/3
u=-9

Step 1: Distribute 6.


\tt{9u+39=6u+12

Step 2: Subtract 39 from both sides.


\tt{9u=6u-27}

Step 3: Subtract 6u from both sides.


\tt{3u=-27}

Step 4: Divide both sides by 3.
