There’s a much easier way of doing it which is by using a “function machine” meaning you do the opposite.
So the equation is 5x+4=14, all the time in algebra if you see any number with an x together you multiply it so 5x will be 5 multiplied by x. The opposite of plus 4 will be subtract 4. So you’ll wanna do
x ⇨X5 ⇨+4 ⇨=14
2 ⇦÷5 ⇦ -4⇦ =14

So x will be equal to 2 as you’d wanna do 14 subtract 4, 10, then you’ll wanna divide it by 5 which is where you’d get the 2 from I hope I was clear on that and didn’t get you confused but there are other methods to do this but this is one I frequently use
