Why is religion or politics not a good idea to discuss? Whether it be a light conversation with a stranger or a conversation with classmates, it is not a friendly subject to get into. One question may be asked, but that question will lead to a cascade of questions and opposite opinions. For example, “Are you a democrat or republican?” In this situation, they may choose either or, but nonetheless, opinions and questions will form and can lead to conflicting viewpoints. Another example would be different religions. One may believe their religion but conflicts another. The conflict created can leave a foul taste in the conversation and cause one to regret bringing up the subject in general. Controversy to what I have said, practicing religion and bringing it up in a conversation is impractical, but if it is brought up, be respectful of their religion and hope they are respectful towards yours. If one side does not respect the other, the subject should not be brought up again for it can create a bigger flame. This era is a time where judgement is easily formed just from stating your opinion, so it is best to read the room and be open-minded of your surroundings. But if you are searching for conflict, these would be a great option.
