- We call the the horizontal line as X-axis and the vertical one as Y-axis, and the point where they both intersects as Origin (look in attachment)
Now, in this question we are given a graph, and we need to check which of the graphs is of the given curve.
For these type of questions, we need just x-value from the given options and check from the graph, is the y-coordinate is correct from the boxes.
We have same x-coordinates in all the boxes above which are -3,-2,-1,0,1 and 2. But we will give first preference to those x-values where the curve is intersecting the x-axis. So, we will be checking the y-values at there.
From the graph ;
The curve is only intersecting the x-axis at x = -2, where y is 0, which is given in only options A,B and C. So we eliminate option D.
Now, the curve is also intersecting the y-axis at y = -3, where x is 0 , so we eliminated option C as well. Now we just need to check Options A and B, if you notice then you can find that in both the options everything is same just except the y-values of x = 1.
From the graph, we can have that for x = 1, -4 < y < -3, which is followed by y = -7/2, for y = -15/4, as it is greater than -3, we eliminate option B
Hence, Option A is correct
