Explanation:

The area of the triangle is (1/2)(height)(base) = (1/2)(4)(6) = 12. (The base is 6 because it is made up of two radii of the semicircle.)

The area of a whole circle is pi(radius)^2.

Area of whole circle is pi(3^2) = 9pi. But you have only half a circle, so its area is 4.5pi.

Using 3.14 to approximate pi, the area of the semicircle is 4.5(3.14) = 14.13.

Adding this to the area of the triangle, you get a total area

14.13 + 12 = 26.13 ft^2
