There are 15 coins, which are nickels and dimes only, in Ediths purse. The total value of the coins in her purse is $1.15. If n= nickels and d= dimes, the scenario can be represented by the following system: n + d = 15 0.05n + 0.10d= 1.15

How many Nickels and dimes are in Ediths purse? (SHOW WORK WILL GIVE 100 POINTS ANSWER ASAP PLS)

n = 7 and d = 8

You can check by putting these numbers into the equation to see if it is correct.

7 + 8 = 15 so that is correct

and 0.05 x 7 + 0.10 x 8 = 1.15 is correct as well so that is how you can come to the conclusion of n = 7 and d = 8. You will have to use the opposite inverse in order to find missing variables.

Hope this helps.

Answer:

n=7 d=8

Explanation:

n+d=15 d=15-n

0.05n+0.1(15-n)=1.15

0.05n-0.1n+1.5=1.15

-0.05n=-0.35

n=7 d=8
