Answer:

y=4x +44

Explanation:

The first thing you have to do is put the first equation in slope intercept form (y=mx+b)

x+4y =2 Subtract x from each side

4y = -x + 2 Divide by 4 to solve for y

y =
(-1)/(4) x + (1)/(2)

The slope of this line is -
(1)/(4). A perpendicular line will have the opposite reciprocal slope. We change the sign and flip the numerator and denominator. The new slope is 4.

Now we will use the point slope formula
y - y_(1) = m(x-x_(1) ) to plug in the point given and the new slope to solve.

y-12=4(x+8) Distribute the 4

y-12=4x+32 Add 12 to both sides

y = 4x + 44
