Beyond Neptune's orbit is the Kuiper Belt. It's a high traffic area, to say the least. Several

hundred thousand KPOs orbit the Sun there. A KPO, which stands for Kuiper Belt Object, is
larger than 20 miles across. Pluto is 1,473 miles in diameter and also orbits the Sun in the
Kuiper Belt. Pluto is a dwarf planet because it's much smaller than a planet. Even though
Pluto is smaller than Earth's moon, it has five moons of its own. It takes Pluto 248 years to
orbit the Sun.

The correct answer is: C

A. This is incorrect because the text doesn't mention the width or size of the Kuiper Belt. It mentions that a Kuiper Belt Object (KPO) is larger than 20 miles across, but it doesn't refer to the entire belt being 20 miles across.

B. This is incorrect because the text doesn't associate the Kuiper Belt with Neptune's rings. The Kuiper Belt is a region of the solar system beyond the orbit of Neptune, but it's not one of Neptune's rings.

C. This is correct. The text describes the Kuiper Belt as an area with many small objects that orbit the sun. It is a region in the outer solar system beyond Neptune's orbit that contains various small, icy bodies, including Pluto.

D. This is incorrect because the text states that Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the Sun, but it doesn't mention anything about Pluto having five moons that take over 248 years to orbit the Sun.

Therefore, option C accurately describes the Kuiper Belt based on the information provided in the text.
