Answer:

A = 90, B =18

Explanation:

From the question

The weight of meteorite A is five times the weight of meteorite B, ill get this equation

A = 5B

if their sums of their weights is 108 tons, find the weight of each, ill get this equation

A+B = 108

Now since I have two equation, u just have to solve it simultaneously

A = 5B ( equation 1)

A+ B = 108 (equation 2)

From equation 2

A+B = 108

B = 108 - A ( equation 3)

Now ill put equation 3 into equation one

A = 5B

A = 5 (108 - A)

A = 540 - 5A

6A = 540

A = 90

Now since u know A = 90, just choose any of the equations the question gave u, either equation 1 or 2, they will give u the same answers, I'll prove it to u

Equation 1

A =5B

90 = 5B

B = 90/5

= 18

Equation 2

A+B = 108

90 + B = 108

B = 108 - 90

= 18

So at the end, A = 90 ton, B = 18 ton
