The population of a town started at 1000, then went up

10%, then down 20%, then back up 10%. The
population of the town ended at

A. 972
B. 968
C. 1024
D. 1000

PLEASE HELP & EXPLAIN ASAP!!!

Answer:

Answer is letter D

Explanation:

1000 +10% = 1010

1010 -20% = 900

900 +10% = 1000

I don't know if this is right but I tried..

You have to work this out step-by-step.

Population started at 1000.

It went up 10%: 1000 + 10%(1000) = 1000+100 = 1100

Now it's 1100

It then went down 20%: 1100 - 20%(1100) = 1100 - 220 = 880

Now it's 880.

It then went back up 10%... I'll let you try the last calculation.

Can you take it from there?
