original number of dresses were 75 dresses.

Explanation:

remaining dresses = original dresses - sale dresses

so remaining dresses = 100% - 20% = 80%

80% ---> 60 dresses

1% ---> (60/80) dresses

100% ---> [(60/80)*100] = 75 dresses.
