Distribute

6x-9-12 = 4x-20

Combine like terms

6x-21 = 4x-20

Subtract 4x from each side

6x-21-4x = 4x-20-4x

2x-21 = -20

Add 21 to each side

2x-21+21 = -20+21

2x=1

Divide by 2

2x/2 =1/2

x= 1/2
