so i'm struggling with a different problem this time. 5p - 9 = 2p + 12. (keep in mind i am an 8th grader in a high school algebra 1 class so i'm pretty clueless)

5p - 9 = 2p + 12
5p - 9 - 2p = 12
3p - 9 = 12
3p - 9 + 9 = 12 + 9
3p = 21
3p/3 = 21/3
p = 7

Solution :

  • 5p - 9 = 2p + 12

  • 5p - 2p = 12 + 9

  • 3p = 21

  • p = 21 ÷ 3

  • p = 7
