Although Gilgamesh wants to live forever, he cannot even stay awake for

seven days, as Utnapishtim proves by having his wife bake seven loaves of
bread while Gilgamesh sleeps. What is the point of this episode? What
does Utnapishtim teach Gilgamesh about immortality? Would
really want this kind of immortality? Support your answers using specific
examples from the story to support your ideas.

Gilgamesh wants to live forever but the fact he can’t stay awake for 7 days even shows his lack of will power to do what it takes to be immortal
