lets first group the like terms, this means=

2x-x+14+6=(and then take numbers without variables behind the sign of equal, because we only solve an equation when it is equal to something else)

(2x-x)=-14-6

(when they go behind the equal sign it has to change the sign it had before going there) which means we will have:

x=-20

....the bring it to its general form which was an equation, which means we will take - 20 back in front of equal)
