Answer:

(1.4)/(5)

Explanation:

We have the coordinates (2005, 7.5) and (2010, 8.9). To find the rate of change we must use the equation
(y_(2)-y_(1))/(x_(2)-x_(1)) which is
(8.9-7.5)/(2010-2005). To simplify that further, we get
(1.4)/(5) therefore the rate of change is 1.4 over 5.

Answer: 280 graduates per year

Explanation:

the rate of change is the change in y (number of graduates) divided by the change in x (year).

So:
(8.9-7.5)/(2010-2005) = 0.28 because this number is in thousands of graduates, multiply by 1000 to get 0.28*1000=280 graduates per year
