Answer:

The Civil War had caused great division and struggle among the states and ideals that the people defended. An inauguration speech was meant to inform the public and the government of the president's plans. After combating slavery and striving for fair governance, the American people needed a strong leader. The only way to rebuild America is through peaceful cohabitation, giving investors time to rebuild and invest. Lincoln, a fervent Christian, upholds the Christian ideas of harmony, peace, and love for everyone. Religion may bring divergent interests and ideas together for growth and unity. Americans needed to know the president's guiding philosophy. A strong legal foundation and the supremacy of the constitution would allow him to lead and heal the nation.
