Answer:

a) R = 3.6

b) A = 2

Explanation:

From the above question, we are told that:

R is inversely proportional to A.

Mathematically =

R ∝ 1/A

= R = k × 1/A

R = k/A

Where k = Constant of Proportionality

We are given

R= 12 when A= 1.5

Hence, we find k

R = k/A

k = RA

k = 12 × 1.5

k = 18

a) Work out the value of R when A= 5.

We have our formula

R = k/A

k = 18

A = 5

R = 18/5

R = 3.6

b) Work out the value of A when R= 9

We have our formula

R = k/A

k = 18

9 = 18/A

Cross Multiply

9A = 18

A = 18/9

A = 2
