Find the smaller of 2 consecutive intergers, x, if the sum of the smaller and 6 times the larger is -29. Write an equation to determine the consecutive intergers.​

Answer:

x = -5 and x+1( consecutive integer) = -4

obviously x is smaller than the next integer

Explanation:

Let the first integer be x

hence the consecutive integer is x +1

according to the give condition

x + 6(x + 1) = -29

x + 6x + 6 = -29

7x = -29 -6

7 x = -35

x = -35/7

x = -5

x + 1 = -5 + 1 = -4
