What line y= 2/3 x - 2 is graphed below. if the system comprised of this line and the line y= -2x + 6 were solved, which of the following would be the y-coordinate of the solution?

1) y=0

2) y=7

3) y=3

4) y=-4

plz help asap thank you in advance!! :)

Answer:

(1) y = 0

Explanation:

This question uses System of Equations to solve it.

Because both equations are equal to y, we can set both of the equations to equal each other and use basic algebra to solve for x:

2/3x -2 = -2x + 6

8/3x -2 = 6

8/3x = 8

x = 3

Because we are looking for the y-coordinate, plug 3 into one of the equations and solve for y (I'm going to use y = -2x + 6):

y = -2(3) + 6

y = -6 + 6

y = 0

That's your answer!

You can even prove it by using Desmos (this is a free graphing website), write the two equations, and then you can see the point where they intersect (I attached an image below).

Hope it helps (●'◡'●)
