x = 36/5

Explanation:

Subtract 6 from both sides

x/3+6-2x-6 = -6-6

Simplify

x/3 - 2x = -12

Multiply both sides by 3

x/3 * 3 - 2x * 3 = -12 * 3

Simplify

-5x = -36

Divide both sides by -5

-5x/-5 = -36/-5

Simplify

x = 36/5
