A container has 14 yellow chips, 10 blue chips and 12 red chips in it.
One chip is randomly chosen from the container, then a second chip is
randomly chosen after replacing the first chip. What is the probability
that both chips are red?

Answer:

1/9 is the probability that its red chip.

Explanation:

total chips = 14 + 10 + 12 = 36 chips

first probability = 12/36 = 1/3

second probability = 12/36 = 1/3...........total remains same, 36 as its replaced

therefore probability = 1/3 * 1/3 = 1/9
