From the top of a fire tower, a forest ranger sees his partner on the ground at an angle of depression of 40 degrees. If the tower is 45 feet in height, how far is the partner from the base of the tower,to the nearest Tenth of a foot?

Answer: 50.2ft

Explanation:

I used tangent to find the length of the base of the triangle.

Tan = opposite / adjacent and I solved for opposite getting 50.2.

PS I literally swore to myself I wouldn’t bring out pen and paper and get into trig tonight over this app but since you asked I did. I’m pretty confident in my answer but just know, I last took math four years ago.
