Answer: p/10

Work Shown

(1 book)/(10 dollars) = (x number of books)/(p dollars)

1/10 = x/p

1p = 10x

p = 10x

10x = p

x = p/10

For example, if you have p = 50 dollars in your pocket, then you can buy 5 books because p/10 = 50/10 = 5.

Here's another approach we could do.

1 book = $10

1/10 of a book = $1

p/10 books = $p
