Answer:

1)2x -y+2=0

2)-x +4y +8 = 0

Explanation:

Here two equations are given to us and we need to write them in Standard form . The given equations are linear equation in two variables and their Standard form is ,

\implies ax + by + c = 0

  • Where a , b and c are constants .

1) y - 4 = -2(x +3)

Open the brackets on RHS ,

\implies y - 4 = -2x -6

Transpose all the terms to LHS ,

\implies 2x - y -4 +6 = 0

Add the constant terms ,

\implies \boxed{ 2x - y +2 =0}

Hence the equation in standard form is 2x -y +2=0.

2) y = ¼x -2

Add 2 on both sides ,

\implies y + 2 = (1)/(4)x

Multiply both sides by 4 ,

\implies 4y +8 =x

Subtract x on both sides,

\implies \boxed{ -x + 4y + 8 =0}

Hence the equation in standard form is -x +4y +8=0 .
