(a) By converting to decimal:

2:3=23=0.6¯

4:5=45=0.8

As 0.6¯<0.8,2.:3<4:5.

(b) By converting to fractions:

Ratios can be compared by converting them to like fractions.

2:3=23=2(5)3(5)=1015

4:5=45=4(3)5(3)=1215

As 1015<1215,2:3<4:5.
