The ratio says that for every 6.9 cubic inches, there is 1 cubic inch when it is compressed.

We get from 6.9 to 1 (expanded to compressed) by dividing by 6.9

The question asks for expanded to compressed, so divide by 6.9.

48.3 / 6.9 = 7 cubic inches when compressed
