6x² + 5x = 4

6x² + 5x - 4 = 0

x = (-5 ± √(5² - 4(6)(-4)))/(2(6))

= (-5 ± √(25 + 96))/12

= (-5 ± √121)/12

= (-5 ± 11)/12

= -16/12, 6/12

= -4/3, 1/2

The number could be -4/3 or 1/2.
