..she gives x/4 to Kylie, 3x/4 remains

she gives 2/3 of the rest to Kyle = 3x/4*2/3 =6x/12 =x/2

there are then 9 cupcakes left

How many cupcakes did she make if she had 9 cupcakes left?

x/4 + x/2 + 9 = x

we put in the common denominator 4:

(x+2x+36)/4 =4x/4

3x+36=4x

3x-4x = -36

-x=-36

x= 36

→she had made 36 cupcakes
