There are two numbers which add up to 20. If one number is eight more than five times the other, find the numbers. Enter the two numbers separated by a comma, with the smaller number first.

Explanation:

x, y are the 2 numbers.

x + y = 20

x = 5y + 8

now, we use the second equation in the first :

(5y + 8) + y = 20

5y + 8 + y = 20

6y + 8 = 20

6y = 12

y = 12/6 = 2

x + y = 20

x + 2 = 20

x = 18

the two numbers are

2, 18
