Conjunctions Conjunctions are words that join words or groups of words. For example: I answered my cellphone although I was driving, so I almost drove into a group of pedestrians on the pavement. Subordinating conjunctions connect parts that show result or reason. For example 21 July 2013 The dog barks whenever a stranger knocks on the door. HW / claswerO Activity 5: Use conjunctions 1. Let's identify and write down the conjunctions in each of the sentences:

1.1 It is not a school's responsibility to teach driving, however schools can teach the meaning of road signs.

Conjunctions: "however"

1.2 It is not acceptable to drink and drive, nor is it acceptable to talk on a cellphone.

Conjunctions: "nor"

1.3 The road is slippery because it has been raining.

Conjunctions: "because"

1.4 Since I learnt to drive, I have been able to apply for more jobs.

Conjunctions: "Since"

1.5 Learner drivers are not allowed to drive unless there is a licensed driver with them.

Conjunctions: "unless"

Note: The "+" and "-" symbols at the beginning of the sentences seem to indicate the sentence's value in a possible scoring system. However, they don't represent conjunctions in these sentences.

I hope this helped!
