There are recurring social issues found in many game development studios. For example, the relationship between developers, publishers, distributors, marketers, and retailers can be a “closed club” in which favored partners always participate in the game development and distribution process, freezing out smaller, newer designers. Working conditions at several large game studios encourage or require intense, months-long ‘crunch time’ where developers work overtime to finish a product to meet the marketer’s timeline and hit a specific retail date. Other companies promote workplace cultures that are exclusionary, particularly to women, and have been shown to allow misbehavior on the part of high-level employees. What is it about the way that AAA games are funded, marketed, and sold that has contributed to this common workplace culture? What are two solutions you think would help improve these problems (solutions can include personal steps you can take, actions employees might take, actions the companies might take, and/or government intervention)?

Answer:

I think the standards should be better in these places as misbehaviour with employers can lead to an uprising or a large-scale riot in the business world where many marketers can face heavy fines over employee misconduct. To ensure this does not happen severe sanctions can be in place to prevent such acts from occurring.
