The answer is:

x = 3

Work/explanation:

Combine like terms on each side

\sf{6x + 5 = 3x + 14}

\sf{6x-3x=14-5}

\sf{3x=9}

Now, divide each side by 3

\sf{x=3}

Hence, the answer is x = 3.
