Explain what is ironic in each of the following passages from "Like the Sun" and "The Open Window" Then identify the type of irony in each passage.

Like The Sun- "No. I want it immediately- your frank opinion. Was it good?" "No, sir..." Sekhar replied"
The Open Window- " My aunt will be down presently, Mr.Nuttel." said a very-self possessed young lady of fifteen; " In the mean time you must try and put up with me."

In this passage, the sun is described as if it is a living being with the ability to see and look at things, while the man is described as if he is unable to see or look at things. This is an example of verbal irony, as the words are saying the opposite of what is meant.

"The Open Window"

"My aunt will be down presently, Mr. Nuttel," said a very self-possessed young lady of fifteen; "in the meantime, you must try and put up with me."

In this passage, the young lady is being sarcastic and implying that Mr. Nuttel will not be able to tolerate her presence for very long. This is an example of the irony of the situation, as the situation (the young lady's presence) is the opposite of what is expected (that Mr. Nuttel will be able to tolerate her presence).
