S = 1/2 g t^2 time for stone to fall distance S

S = V0 (t - 2) * 1/2 g (t -2)^2 time for stone to fall distance S with an initial speed of 30 m/s, 2 seconds later

1/2 g t^2 = V0 t - 2 V0 + 1/2 g t^2 - 2 g t + 2 g equating distance fallen

t = 3.88 sec

Check:

S = 1/2 * 9.8 * 3.88^2 = 73.8 m

S = 30 * 1.88 + 1/2 * 9.8 * 1.88^2 = 73.7 m
