Almonds are $1.75 per pound

Explanation:

3j + 2a = $11

5j + 6a = $23

Multiply equation 1 by 3

9j + 6a = $33

Subtract

9j + 6a = $33

-(5j + 6a = $23)

=(4j + 0a = $10)

4j = $10

j = $2.50

Plug j into any equation.

3(2.5) + 2a = $11

7.5 + 2a = $11

2a = 3.5

a = $1.75

Jelly beans are $2.50 per pound

Almonds are $1.75 per pound
