The average or mean is the sum of the number divided by the total amount.

MEAN (Average) = sum/# of #s

Let’s use your problem to plug it into the formula.

You do 23 + 33 + 33 + 27 + 25 + 68 + 27 + 44 + 72 which equals 352
That is the SUM. It goes on the top part of the formula.

Next you count how many numbers there are. There’s 9. You put that on the bottom; you do 352/9.

The mean is 39.111111 or just 39.1 (A)
