Answer: 22 ft

Explanation:

The width of the walkway is x + 6 + x = 2x + 6 ft and the height of the walkway is x + 8 + x = 2x + 8. Because the area of the walkway and pool sum up to 528
ft^(2), we can get the equation

(2x + 8)(2x + 6) = 528

4x^(2) +28x + 48 = 528

4x^(2) +28x - 480 = 0

x^(2) +7x - 120 = 0

(x-8)(x+15)=0 So x can be either 8 or -15 but x is a length so it must be positive, therefore x is 8. That means it's width is
2x + 6 = 2(8) + 6 = 22
