Given: Spring constant(k) = 23.6 N/m

Elastic potential energy(P) = 1.25J

To find: Extension(x)

Solution: We know that,

P= (1)/(2)kx^(2)

i.e.
1.25 = (1)/(2)(23.6)x^(2)

x^(2) =0.1059

x = √(0.1059)

x = 0.3254 m

The rubber band should be stretched 0.3254 m apart
