It is important to meteorology because it includes where storms usually occur, how they form, and what direction storms typically are going to go. Systems, how geographic systems and weather interact. A great example would be those early winter storms in the Great Lakes regions tend to get a great deal more snow because of lake effects. And climate, which is the study of atmospheric conditions and weather over a very long period of time.
