what do you think might have happened to the western sectors of berlin if the airlift had not taken place

Not entirely sure, but I’m gonna try anyways based on what I know about the airlift - I think it’s likely that lots of West Berliners would have faced starvation and economic instability due to the lack of food and supplies reaching them due to the Berlin Blockade, which would have killed many or forced them to join East Berlin. However, due to the Berlin Airlift, the democratic states got food and supplies past the blockade and into West Berlin, shaming and pressuring the USSR to end the blockade.
