There are two glass pyramids at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The outdoor pyramid has a square base with side lengths of 35.4 meters and a height of 21.6 meters. The indoor pyramid has a square base with side lengths of 15.5 meters and a height of 7 meters. How many times as great is the volume of the outdoor pyramid than that of the indoor pyramid?

The formula for the volume of a square pyramid is:

Volume = (1/3) x base area x height

To find the ratio of the volume of the outdoor pyramid to the indoor pyramid, we need to calculate the volumes of each pyramid and divide the volume of the outdoor pyramid by the volume of the indoor pyramid.

Volume of outdoor pyramid = (1/3) x (35.4 m)^2 x 21.6 m = 22,665.6 cubic meters

Volume of indoor pyramid = (1/3) x (15.5 m)^2 x 7 m = 840.58 cubic meters

Ratio of volume of outdoor pyramid to indoor pyramid = 22,665.6 cubic meters / 840.58 cubic meters

Ratio = 26.97

Therefore, the volume of the outdoor pyramid is approximately 27 times greater than that of the indoor pyramid.
