A cruise ship traveled to Tahiti and back.

On the trip there it traveled 10 mph and on
the return trip it went 15 mph. How long

Answer:

Let's call the distance to Tahiti "D".

We know that the time it took to return was 8 hours, and the speed was 15 mph. So:

D = 15 * 8

D = 120 miles

Now, let's use the formula:

time = distance / speed

For the trip to Tahiti, we know the speed was 10 mph. Let's call the time it took "t":

t = D / 10

t = 120 / 10

t = 12 hours

So the trip to Tahiti took 12 hours.
