If the range for a set of data is 24, from 2 to 26, and the mean is 17, what can you conclude about the data?

There probably isn't a mode.
Not enough information to draw valid conclusion.
17 is the typical data value.
The median will be 17 also.

Answer:

The answer to your problem is:

  • Not enough information to draw valid conclusion.

Explanation:

As the mean is 17 the total value if you for example have 5 numbers will be 5*17 = 85.

you can conclude 1, 3 or 4:

For example the numbers could be 2, 8, 24, 25 and 26.

you could have a mode if you include 2 16's instead of the 8 and 24 but you cant say that's not probable.

The median is not 17 nor is it a typical value.

Which would basically conclude to option B.

Thus the answer to your problem is:

  • Not enough information to draw valid conclusion.
