Explanation:

For crossing chords in a circle, the products of the segments are equal

6 * 4 = x * 14 -x

24 = -x^2 + 14x

-x^2 + 14x - 24 = 0 Use quadratic Formula ( or factoring ) to find:

x = 2 or 12 ( drawing is not to scale)
