Write a total of five figurative language sentences. Each sentence must be about your favorite season of the year and based on your senses (touch, taste, sight, hearing/sound, and smell). Each sentence must include at least one type of figurative language: simile, metaphor, alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, personification, or/and hyperbole. Think of the holidays, events, foods, weather, colors, sells, and clothing that you associate with this time of year. For example, read my spring examples. Which types of figurative language are used in these sentences? Red, yellow, and orange tulips burst from the warming earth, speeding like shiny sports cars racing into the sky. Snow boots and puffy jackets are replaced by sandals and sundresses, which emerge from basement boxes like cherished hidden treasures.

Type your work directly onto your document.

2. Next, type your figurative language sentences into a descriptive passage about your favorite season. It must be at least seven sentences, including an attention getter/hook sentence, an introduction, at least three of your favorite figurative language sentences, and a conclusion sentence. Use transition words to create flow between the sentences. Make sure to edit your paragraph before sharing it.

Please see the example below:

Touchdown! As I walk into the warm, fragrant kitchen, I hear the cheers and chants of family from the living room. The Buckeyes have scored again! Fall is my favorite season because of the vibrant colors as the leaves change, the excitement of cheering for our favorite football teams, and the beginnings of the holiday season. It took us days to lovingly prepare this feast but now the Thanksgiving food is on the table and we laugh at our inside jokes and tear up as we make our toasts. As the sun sets and says goodnight, we step outside onto our balcony and look down over the glowing city. The leaves jump and fly through the air, I wave goodbye until next year, when they come back in winter’s thaw of springtime. Thanksgiving is my favorite time of all, as we celebrate the fall, our bellies are full of dinner’s blessings. Our hearts beat with gratitude and, most importantly, love for all.

1. Although some may say winter is a long sleep that gets duller, colder, and sadder with each passing moment, I say it is as if frosty the snowman greeted me with a million kisses.

2. My favorite thing about this season is hot chocolate, which brings the scent is of Christmas and cold winter mornings. I love how it burns my tongue, but I don't mind because it offers warmth and comfort like a big, cozy hug from my grandmother.

3. I love how people shift from olive green, burgundy, and brown to icy tones of blue. Nothing beats a stylish puffer jacket and snow boots.

4. Christmas is like no other. As I lie in my bed, I try to fall asleep, but I am kept awake with the images of my future presents. The sound of wrapping paper is music to my ears, but the mile wide smiles are even better.

5. I love a white Christmas. Snow is a blanket on the landscape as it falls from the clouds up above. School is canceled and we just spend all day building igloos and throwing snowballs.

Answer:

As I step outside on a crisp autumn day, I am greeted by a symphony of nature. The leaves dance and twirl like ballerinas in the wind, painting the trees with a colorful masterpiece. The sound of crunching leaves underfoot is like a symphony of nature, playing a melody of autumnal bliss. The aroma of pumpkin spice and cinnamon wafts through the air, like a warm hug from a loved one. The cozy sweaters and scarves wrap me up like a warm blanket, shielding me from the chilly breeze. The crisp autumn air is like a refreshing sip of apple cider, invigorating my senses. Fall is my favorite season, as it brings a sense of warmth and comfort, like being wrapped up in a cozy blanket. As the leaves fall and the days grow shorter, I am reminded of the beauty of change and the importance of embracing the present moment.
