x = 3 is the answer

replace Y with -3 then solve so..

-3x-5(-3)=6

this cones out to

-3x+15=6

moving 15 to the other side

-3x=6-15

this becomes

-3x=-9

move -3 into division

x=-9÷-3

this is x=3
