Area of a triangle = 1/2 x length x height.

80 = 1/2 x (x+1) (2x-2)

Multiply both sides by 2:

160 = (x+1)(2x-2)

Expand the right side:

160 = 2x^2 -2

Add 2 to both sides:

162 = 2x^2

Divide both sides by 2:

81 = x^2

Take the square root of both sides:

x = 9

Now find the length of the s1des:

(x+1) = 9+1 = 10

2x-2 = 2(9) -2 = 18-2 =16

The shorter side is 10
